I was browsing slashpages for ideas, and decided to make a page about things I won't do with my website.
- Paywall it. If you've been browsing it for a bit, you probably already know this. But if you're new here, I'm here to get away from the commercial web. I want to be a person, not a product.
- Use AI for it. Just.. no.
- Anything that would make me legally required to take steps to keep kids from being here. As you can tell by my url, I have a European host. I am writing this in 2026, as laws to restrict kids' access to the internet are becoming more popular. I am not going to do anything that would require me to put an age limit on my website. This includes user to user interaction, which honestly I'm not fit to moderate anyway. I want to keep this as open and unrestricted as I can. I was the weird isolated kid, and I want my website to be a place where everyone can see that other weird people exist.
- Make it necessary to make an account to access anything where it's not necessary to save information tied to your user ID in the SQL database. So far that's only the sticker gallery. That saves user ID, name of the sticker, sticker ID and the timestamp for when you found it. In the gallery they are sorted according to the timestamp, so that the most recent finds are at the top. Right now it's only a vague plan that I'm not skilled enough to code, but at some point I want to give registered users a page that they can decorate with things that they find around the website. These things would still be possible to find and save to your computer without an account, but the decoration page would have to be stored in the database. But I won't make an account necessary unless it's for continuity like that.
- Reactivate the module that links to social media. I'm trying to get people from social media to the indie web, not the other way around.
- Consider a page to be impossible to code. My template switcher was already supposed to be impossible, but here we are.
- Make a page when I don't feel like it. This is my hobby, and I won't turn it into a job.
