A fox curled up on a beach with a colorful sunset behind him. The sea is calm and the sunset is reflected in it.

This was the first picture I drew after a long break. Foxes are my favorite animal. I tried to make the world look soft and warm in it. The reflection of the sunset in the water was tricky.

A raven in front of an abstract purple background. The purple pattern forms a round kalidescope and behind it is black with stars.

This is the picture that helped me realize that I like making abstract backgrounds. I wanted the purple kalidescope to be in the shape of a moon, and then stars in the background. This was also my first ever attempt at drawing feathers. I started it with the raven as a black blob and then added texture to it.

A wolf up in snowy mountains. The wolf is in the lower right corner and howling at northern lights. There are two mountaintops in the background, and the auroras light up the snow.

This one was really fun. I drew it when there were a lot of northern lights. The fur was fun to figure out how to do. That brownish fur on the wolf's belly is actually the background color, then I added fur on top of it. The back and face got a dark grey background. It's when I drew this that I figured out to draw many layers of thin fur and then use a fragment effect to give texture to it. That's why it looks so different from the fox.

A lizard sunbathing on a rock in a meadow. The lizard is purple in the front half and green in the back half. It has its tail curled to keep it out of the shade. There's a butterfly on a flower in the background

After a long time of drawing fur, I decided to take a break from that with a reptile. The scales took longer to draw. But I'm happy with the result. The sunlight hitting the lizard's head and back is done with a similar fragment effect. I drew some thin lines and then fragmented them to make the scales look shiny.

A black kitten walking on a branch in a cherry tree. The background is mostly cherry blossoms, but you can see the grass, sea and sky between some gaps.

This one is more significant than it looks. The dark blue that you can see in the background is the same sea from the fox picture. And at the time I'm writing this, only the first part of my webcomic is up. But those of you who have read that might have noticed that unlike most foxes, mine has an all orange face. I've been drawing characters from animal valley. I knew from the start that these pictures were concept art.

As for this one, it was some practice adding texture to an all black animal. Like with the raven, I started with the kitten as an all black blob. It's really really subtle, but there are some dark blue lines along the direction of the fur. It's least subtle at the top of the hind leg. It was spring when I drew this and cherry blossoms are among my favorite flowers.

So here I went all in with the fur again. The poofy fur is done with the same technique that I used with the wolf, except longer brushstrokes. I'm really happy with how the eye turned out.

A white bunny in front of an abstract background. The bunny is sitting with it's front feet lifted and looking off to the side at something.

I'm so happy with this bunny that it became my mascot. And I needed something white to go with the light blue and pink. I also like the color combination of dark blue, yellow and white. I was drawing this at the same time as the rabbit above. I had never drawn anything in that pose before, so it took some time to figure out. And I was worried that it would look broken until I added the shading. Then it came together. Shading is the last thing I do, so I had to trust that it would work until it was done.

A lynx walking through an autumn forest surrounded by colorful bushes and trees.

This was my first attempt at patterned fur. It's done with the same fragmenting technique, but really short brushstrokes. This is the drawing that I know the best because I used it when modifying the jigsaw code and troubleshooting. The leaves weren't difficult, but they were time consuming.

A mostly purple dragon with some white and black as well as grey horns in front of a blue and yellow background. There are some bubbles that reflect the background colors.

After spending so long on the leaves, I wanted to do an abstract background. So naturally, I picked another reptile. One with many scales. Each scale is drawn individually. I told everyone when I had drawn the last scale, at the tip of the tail. The background has the same colors as the aroace flag, and it's reflected in the bubbles.

The bubble described above on a grey background

Here's a closeup of one of the bubbles, on grey. They're semi-transparent. When I draw each side is thousands of pixels long, that's why the bubble is so much wider here. When drawing, my lineart is 15px wide.

A traditional drawing of a ship out at sea, under the northern lights. The ship is moving towards the east. Her nameplate says "Lusitania".

And we've arrived at my first ship drawing. Lusitania. I drew this in the morning of May 7 2026, on the anniversary of her sinking in 1915. This was the first picture I drew in about a year. I had burned out trying to keep up and be marketable to an algorithm. But on the evening before the anniversary I realized that I wanted to do something and ended up drawing this. It's now displayed in my living room. I didn't post it here until I had found the web revival movement (see about me for more info) and realized that I was boxing myself in even on my own corner of the internet. This drawing is extra meaningful to me because it's so connected to me breaking out of the box I had been in and realizing that I can do what I want with my website and there's no algorithm here to punish it.
